When my second born was four months old, I went for a retreat - with him. I was his main source of not food - I'd never had enough breast milk to fill his little stomach - but his source of warmth, comfort and security. It was during this retreat that I realised that I'd not taken time since he was born, to oil my full body. There was just never time! Not once! I only oiled the bits exposed to the public. Feet. Hands and elbow. Perhaps legs, if I was wearing a skirt. 

 

Mom's story..

The year my mom went to heaven, a total of 5 women passed on in that estate. Coincidence? Perhaps. But I am firmly convinced - for the 2 or 3 that I actually knew - that a lack of self care is what killed them. 

See, my mom, when I was a kid, worked a govt. job. And for most of my life, right up till I was almost in uni., earned approx $100 p.m. and since my Dad was a businessman, a lot of times, my mom would be the one fending for the fam - food, clothing, rent, school fees. Many atimes, she's not have had lunch because, it was a trade off: lunch for her, or school shoes for one of her totoz. When she did eat, she would junk on chips. Because.. That was all she could afford.
